OVERVIEW

This Radium Engineering fuel hanger for the 2016+ Honda Civic is compatible with 1 or 2 or 3 aftermarket fuel pumps. The kit reuses the OEM fuel level sensor as well as the OEM vent and ORVR emission ports.

For some models, available plumbing kits provide all necessary plumbing to and from the engine including a fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, fuel lines, adapter fittings, and mounting hardware.

OVERVIEW

This Radium Engineering fuel hanger is compatible with 1 or 2 or 3 aftermarket fuel pumps. The kit reuses the OEM fuel level sensor as well as the OEM vent and ORVR emission ports.

There will be enough components included to use 1, 2, or 3 fuel pumps. Depending on the setup, some parts will simply not be used.

FITTINGS

The merged fuel pump outlet is tapped for 10AN ORB (7/8"-14) female threads on the top plate. However, a low profile 8AN male fitting (shown below left) is provided to connect to an aftermarket fuel line (not included). The fuel return inlet is tapped for 6AN ORB (9/16"-18) female threads on the top plate. A 6AN male adapter (shown below right) is provided to connect to an aftermarket fuel line (not included). All fittings are machined low enough to clear the surrounding area.

As shown, some vehicles (outside of the North America) do not have vent or ORVR ports. Note how the 2 ports on the OEM unit are sealed shut. For these applications, a 10AN ORB plug (shown red) and a 6AN ORB plug (shown yellow) are included to seal these ports.

FUEL STARVATION PROTECTION

Several mechanisms work together to move fuel into the integrated collector and keep it full at all times. This ensures the pump(s) have adequate fuel available, even during aggressive driving. The integrated fuel tank collector is supplied with fuel from 3 different sources:

  • The 1-piece anodized aluminum collector box keeps fuel trapped around the pump inlet(s).
  • There are three 1-way fill valves incorporated in the bottom of the collector box that allows fuel in, but not out. Each 1-way fill valve flows 355 LPH.
  • The collector box is constantly replenished with fuel returning from the pressure regulator.

ELECTRICAL

The custom designed stainless steel electrical studs easily handle the high current demand that compact multi-pin bulkhead connectors lack. They have an anti-rotation feature that prevents the terminals from spinning. These serviceable connections are hermetically sealed and impervious to all standard and exotic fuels. Non-conductive anodized aluminum acorn nuts are provided to prevent any accidental short circuiting. Furthermore, the in-tank wiring is insulated with high quality chemically resistant ETFE.

NOTES

  • Single pump installations can re-use the OEM fuel pump wiring.
  • It is recommended to upgrade OEM wiring to ensure the single pump is receiving full power and operating at maximum potential.
  • If using additional pumps, new dedicated relays and fuses MUST be used for each pump.
  • Universal fuel pump wiring kits can be found HERE. Select one for each aftermarket pump.

This kit has only been tested and installed on the FK8 Type-R. It may fit other models that have not been tested.

OVERVIEW

These kits provide all necessary plumbing to and from the engine including a fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, fuel lines, adapter fittings, and mounting hardware. First, a 8AN PTFE fuel line is installed to the fuel hanger pump outlet, as shown below.

The 8AN PTFE fuel hose runs behind the fuel tank. A high flow fuel filter is mounted to the LH side of the fuel tank using a 2-piece billet mount. Elements are either 10 micron stainless (-03) or 6 micron microglass (-05). Go HERE for more filter element information. From the fuel filter outlet (shown below), another 8AN PTFE fuel line runs towards the front of the vehicle.

To accept the new large feed line, new billet aluminum fuel/brake line retainers (shown below) replace the factory plastic retainers.

A dual fuel pressure regulator (DFPR) is mounted on the firewall using OEM threaded holes. With the DFPR regulator, there are 2 independent fuel pressure outputs. For the OEM direction injection system, the black knob and a 0-100psi gauge is used to calibrate the LPFP fuel pressure. If an aftermarket port injection system is ever installed, there is a separate independent outlet port. A port injection system, an 8AN ORB DFPR adapter fitting, and a fuel line is all that would be required. These plumbing kits come with a 8AN ORB plug for this port. NOTE: Port injection fuel pressure is calibrated using the green knob.

In the engine bay, 6AN (3/8") EFI fuel hose and SAE quick connect adapters are provided to convert the OEM fuel feed line into a fuel return line.

At the rear, 6AN PTFE fuel line and an SAE quick connect are provided to adapt the OEM fuel line to the new return port.
