07-21 Toyota Tundra 5.7L 3UR-FE

If using a TRD or other aftermarket SUPERCHARGER please check the pictures carefully to make sure the location of the catch cans is not occupied by intercooler plumbing or other related supercharger components.

OVERVIEW

The catch can draws out oil and water condensation from the crankcase gasses that would otherwise be drawn into the intake manifold. This prevents oil buildup in the intake, intercooler system walls, throttle body, and intake manifold. This effectively raises the octane, can increase engine performance from cleaner inlet air, and can lower hydrocarbon emissions. The closed system prevents unwanted oil vapors from entering into the cabin. Catch can kits include everything needed for a complete installation.

FLUID LOCK® CATCH CANS

In 2022, Radium Engineering implemented a revolutionary design change to the 7 fluid ounce standard catch can. An inherent problem always existed with typical catch cans when not serviced regularly. The fluid contaminants will eventually leave the reservoir pouring into the air intake system causing poor engine performance. To resolve this issue, Radium created the Fluid Lock® Catch Can. This contains a patented mechanism that prevents the reservoir from overfilling and traps the collected fluids until it is emptied.

FEATURES

  • Direct fitment with no drilling required
  • Large 10AN ORB inlet and outlet ports
  • 4AN ORB drain port
  • 2-step oil separation baffling
  • O-ring sealed dipstick
  • 7 fluid ounce capacity
  • Patented Fluid Lock® system

COLLECTION & EMPTYING

The rate that your catch cans will collect oil and moisture contaminants will vary from one individual vehicle to the next, so there is no set emptying interval. PCV catch cans tend to collect more than CCV catch cans. You should check the level of your catch can using the integrated dipstick starting at 3-4 weeks of driving and repeat as needed to determine how often they should be emptied based on what you see.

Catch cans can be emptied by unscrewing the lower reservoir and removing it from the vehicle to dump out, or in cases where there is available space under the catch can, the Petcock Drain Kit can be installed and used to drain them.

In cases where oil collection is excessive you may have to address an issue with the engine. The reasons a catch can will collect an excess of oil include

  • Excessive blowby from engine damage
  • Crankcase windage from an over-full oil level
  • Poor placement of breather ports and/or poor baffling inside breather ports
  • PCV valve not closing and leaking under heavy load

TUNDRA CATCH CAN KIT OPTIONS

Radium Engineering offers two independent Tundra oil catch can kits that are sold individually or together. They do NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA), thus are emissions and track legal. Closed loop systems route clean filtered air back in through the engine to be burned and to promote negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering into the cabin.

20-0238-FL PCV Catch Can Kit, Fluid Lock

This kit installs inline with the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV valve closes and this hose experiences no flow. In all other conditions the PCV hose will experience 'metered' vacuum when the engine is idling, low load cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run.

Note: Because the Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are great for boosted applications as well so connecting to the intake manifold is permitted.

PCV Kit Includes:

  • Billet oil catch can with integrated condenser and dipstick
  • Tundra-specific laser cut anodized mounting bracket
  • Anodized aluminum 6AN and 8AN hose ends
  • Anodized 6AN and 8AN adapter fittings
  • Stainless steel mounting hardware
  • PCV rubber hose

20-0239-FL CCV Catch Can Kit, Fluid Lock

comes with 2 mounting brackets. One bracket will be disregarded depending if the PCV kit will also be used. The crankcase vent runs inline with the 1/2' valve cover breather port. At low loads it experiences atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is at high load (WOT), this hose will experience vacuum and would normally be drawing unwanted crankcase vapors, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the air filter intake pipe. If the engine is turbocharged or supercharged and you are finding oil accumulation stuck in the intercooler, this catch can is a necessity as oil will lower the thermal efficiency properties of the heat exchange process.

CCV Kit Includes:

  • Billet oil catch can with integrated condenser and dipstick
  • Tundra-specific laser cut anodized mounting bracket
  • Anodized aluminum 8AN hose ends
  • Anodized 8AN adapter fittings
  • Stainless steel mounting hardware
  • PCV rubber hose

20-0240-FL Dual Catch Can Kit, Fluid Lock

For the ultimate in engine protection, Radium recommends the dual catch can kit. Shown below, the dual catch can kit utilizes both the crankcase (CCV) catch can and PCV catch can.
