Radium Engineering catch cans feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, 2-step oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. These kits include everything needed for a complete installation. The catch can draws out oil and water condensation from the crankcase gasses that would otherwise be drawn into the intake manifold. Furthermore, the closed system prevents unwanted oil vapors from entering into the cabin.
FEATURES
-Effectively raises the octane and increased engine performance from cleaner inlet air
-Prevents oil buildup in the intake or intercooler system walls, throttle body, intake manifold, etc.
-Excessive oil collection can be an indicator of a damaged engine.
-Lowers hydrocarbon emissions
-Capacity: 7 fluid ounces
20-1186-FL DUAL CATCH CAN KIT, 15-19 CORVETTE Z06, FLUID LOCK
COMPATIBILITY
15-19 Corvette Z06
This kit features 2 catch cans. One is used for the PCV valve and one is used on the CCV side of the crankcase. The anodized aluminum catch can bracket mounts near the front LH side of the engine. A polished billet plate secures to 3 OEM grounding points. Because this is manufactured from aluminum, it conducts electricity. The large anodized dual catch can bracket secures to the ground plate with aluminum spacers to clear the supercharger pulley.
Mounted at the front of the bracket is the CCV (crankcase vent) catch can. As shown below, it simply intercepts the dry sump vent line to the intake. At low loads, this catch can experiences atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is at high load (WOT), these vents will experience high flow out of the crankcase. This would normally lead to oil and sludge accumulation in the air filter intake pipe.
The PCV catch can is secured at the rear of the mounting bracket. NOTE: The OEM PCV valve is integrated in the crankcase valley under the supercharger. Because the PCV valve is consolidated, it cannot be reused for a catch can. Fortunately, the OEM PCV valve is replaced with a billet bypass (shown below).
A PCV hose routes from this bypass to the PCV catch can. The outlet of the catch can features a Radium Engineering PCV valve which routes "clean air" to the intake manifold.
When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV "check" valve closes and, thus, this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience "metered" vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the engine immediately after a high load run.
