OVERVIEW

Fuel rails can be upgraded for improved fuel flow and AN ORB threaded ports for custom fuel plumbing. This fuel rail and fuel rail plumbing kit are available for an assortment of M5x and S5x BMW engines. It is an upgrade over the OEM fuel rail. Rails are CNC machined from extruded 6063 aluminum, black anodized, and laser etched for a high quality surface finish. Plumbing kits include all necessary components to plumb the fuel rail into the vehicle.

FUEL INJECTORS

There are two type of fuel rails made by Radium: upgrade rails and top feed conversion rails.

  • Upgrade rails provide a new fuel rail that mimics original geometry, mounting, and the OEM fuel injectors can be reused. If an upgrade to the injectors is desired, they must be equivalent to the OEM injector, meaning they must be the same height and the upper & lower o-rings must match the OEM diameters and styles.
  • Top feed conversion rails are used to convert a vehicle that has side feed (or sometimes air-assist) injectors over to a top feed injector. These will require a universal injector and this section will have very specific instructions on what the dimensions of that injector must be. These need to be followed exactly.

This fuel rail is an upgrade rail. OEM or OEM equivalent injectors must be used. 

Radium does not make specific fuel injector recommendations.

  • Consult your tuner for injector brand or flow rate recommendations.
  • Consult the injector manufacturer for a part number that has the correct dimensions.

PORTS AND FITTINGS

This fuel rail features three 8AN ORB ports, one in the center and one at each end. O-ring boss (ORB) fittings must be used in these ports. No fittings are included with this fuel rail and must be purchased separately.

Appropriate fittings must be selected based on the specific application. Ample space around the fuel rail port(s) is necessary for larger accessories such as fuel pressure regulators, fuel pressure gauges, and fuel pulse dampers. To verify clearance, the dimensional drawings on the product pages can be used as a reference guide.
