Summertime in Portland means all the classics, street rods, race cars, show cars, project cars and garage queens come out from hiding. It also means the annual Summer Cruise-in at Portland Speed Industries our local dealer/distributor. PSI also incorporates an open house as part of the event, which allows everyone to roam the shop floor and see the latest creations and the works in progress. Radium Engineering was on site showing off our products and chatting with the locals.

The cruise-in attracts a very diverse mix of cars.

This Porsche GT3RS was a great example of a race car posing as a street car.

The FR-S/BRZ is a promising platform for tuning. At this event, we were able to closely examine under the hood of a few Scion versions. We have been anticipating these applications for the past few years and wil be designing parts in the near future.

Inside the shop, the public had the opportunity to examine five professional Formula Drift competition cars including: Daigo Saito, Robbie Nishida, Emmanuel Amandio, Andrew Coomes and Kyle Pollard. Kyle's red RHD S13 (front right) uses a Radium Dual Bosch 044 Vertical Mounted FST.

Daigo Saito's drift machine is is an example of a vehicle specifically built for pro-level competition drifting. He is currently sitting in second place in the Formula Drift series behind our buddy JTP.

Its powered by a fully built 2JZ Toyota engine with a massive turbocharger. But where is the radiator?

The cooling system is in the trunk. Cooling is a major issue since the cars are run extremely hard then stopped and they wait in line. There is no cool-down lap.  Each car has a creative way to reduce engine temperature quickly between runs.

Radium sponsored drifter Andrew Coomes was on site with his competition S13 LS2 powered drft car. This car sports a Radium Bosch 023 Fuel Surge Tank as well as a collection of other Radium parts.

Radium sponsored Robbie Nishida's Lexus SC300 drift car powered by another Toyota 2JZ turbocharged engine. To prevent fuel starvation, Robbie's setup utilizes a Radium Dual Bosch 044 Horizonal Mounted FST.

How about a Dodge Viper converted into a video game console?

This Supra show-car displayed stunning brushed nickel plating and was impossible not to stare at. In the adjascent room, there was a dyno exhibition going on including a 1500hp Mustang.

Light rain came and went, but the show went on.

Thanks to PSI for another great show and we will be back again next year.
